I write songs and I'm inspired by the lyrics of a lot of great artist such as Darlene Zschech, Chris Tomlin and a lot more. I'd really love meet people who are into song writting and hear what inspires them, how they write their music, etc...
I've noticed that lyrics that have been composed from the heart as well as from scripture really have a way of touching people in their hearts and souls. I've experienced this myself. There's a refreshing annointing on some of the songs I've listened to e.g Blessed by Hillsong, Let it rain by M.W.Smith etc. My passion is to write lyrics that touch the hearts of people and draws them closer to God, lyrics that make God smile and shine His face on those He loves. I believe that seeking Him, spending more time in his presence and in our secret place of worship brings us closer to Him and makes it easier for us to write songs that will touch people's hearts and act as a healing balm for the broken. Music has no borders, no walls, no limits, it reaches where we can't go and touches those that are broken and those that are hopeless, those that we can't touch. I believe that it also brings people into the presence of God and deposits a hunger and desire to know more of Him in their spirits.
Well, first i agree with everything that you have just stated..But the thing that inspires me is the youth..I have been in trouble and to places where people dont wanna go and I believe that I can write songs from a street level that teens as well as other youth can relate to in hopes that when they hear it, they can know that there is someone that is always willing to be there and to help them when they need it..They just have to dig deep in their hearts and find the trust to allow christ into their hearts..Thats what it took for me..I got into trouble and started going to church and listening to KJ-52 and Dj-Maj and they really brought it home to me that when i am angry our hurt there is always a place I can turn to, a shoulder to lean on..And that is God's, and I want other youth to know that as well.
I am a songwriter, I love writing praise and worship songs. I love to sing and listen to praise and worship because just like the name says it brings you into praise and worship. People seem to be moved by that music. I love to just feel the presence of the Lord moving through the music or the lyrics.
I know what you mean bridge... Music is all about worship and bringing others into an awareness of God, His love, His presence, His touch. It is the praise and the worship of our God. I've seen people moved because the music seems to sing what they feel or what they wanted to say to God but just never seemed to have the words. For me music has become revealer of secrets that have always been present but I just never seemed to notice, like how indescribably big (huge) and incredibly awesome God is, or how nothing matters more than Him, or how He deserves my worship and that I was created to worship Him. These are all biblical truths!! There's a song that says "To worship you I live, to worship You I live, I live to worship You". At the end of the day I'm reminded of the great fact that its not about me but about God. I'm just previledged to be taking part in what He created for Himself.
Sorry guys, I can't respond emmidiately coz I'm very far ( Africa to be exact), the only time I can is when you guys are probably asleep. But in response to your question Richie, I haven't heard that song yet. Who sang it?
I have no idea..I was hoping that someone could tell me hehe..I heard when I was in trouble and it really kept me going through hard times..It is really good. here is how it starts:
Who Am I That the Lord of all the earth Would call out through the rain And calm the storm in me
Who am I, that the Lord of all the earth Would care to know my name Would care to feel my hurt Who am I, that the Bright and Morning Star Would choose to light the way For my ever wandering heart
Not because of who I am But because of what You've done Not because of what I've done But because of who You're
I am a flower quickly fading Here today and gone tomorrow A wave tossed in the ocean A vapor in the wind Still You hear me when I'm calling Lord, You catch me when I'm falling And You've told me who I am I am Yours, I am Yours
Who Am I, that the eyes that see my sin Would look on me with love and watch me rise again Who Am I, that the voice that calmed the sea Would call out through the rain And calm the storm in me
I am Yours Whom shall I fear Whom shall I fear 'Cause I am Yours I am Yours
whoaa!!! those are awsome lyrics! there is such revelation in that song! Amazing!! Its amazing!! It takes you to a whole new level of thinking. WOW!! Great stuff!!
