You are right that we need to include God in everything we do (Proverbs 3 vs 6), nothing would ever work out if we didn't. Songs that are composed and sung for God aren't just for fun but for reaching and touching people's lives aswell. This is why we need to pray over the songs we write so that they have the annointing of God in them to touch, comfort, convict and reassure people of God's love.

you don't have to. a lot of times i just come up with the chorus, and i just start tweaking around on my acoustic with it and wait to see if God likes it :P If He does he usually works out the rest.

and don't feel bad if none of your songs come out the way you want them to. it takes practice, patience, and prayer ;)

YOu need to have faith. Start sinnging to yourself, one, two, three. Try it in different tunes, add whatever tune you want, make them high or low then add one or two more word that rhyme, etc. Music is about being creative. You can be as crazy as you want!!

Have you been writting songs lately? I know I have. It's amaizing what God is doing!! I've been writting songs on an almost daily basis, really good songs too if I do say so myself :) I'm excited about where God is taking me!

I've just realised that the gift that is in each and every one of us is not given to us so that we can flaunt it and show off with it or make millions of dollars and grow big heads; The reason is so that we can praise Him and glorify Him and Worship Him. The reason for music is not only to entertain but also to bring people into a place where they have a heart to heart connection with God. Music is such a powerful tool. Every time when I write my songs I'm looking to write lyrics that reveal God in a different light so that people don't only enjoy but that they are impacted for the rest of their lives. That's what Hillsong does for me, they write lyrics that just make you exclaim at the Goodness, Holliness, Awesomeness of God. Not only Hillsong lyrics but also Chris Tomlin ( How great is our God; Indescribable), Delirious (My glorious) etc. At the end of the day, It is about God.

thanks! i totally believe it's because God gave it to me... i pray every time i sit down to write and ask Him to use me. and every time all i have to do is move the pencil and work out a few kinks, but the idea comes from God. i give him all the credit for it. here's another one...

have you set any of your songs to music?

yeah, i've been involved in music since i was 5, and already played 3 instruments so it was easy for me to take up guitar. personally i think my songs always come out like an obvious attempt to sound good, but never do.

If just started writing songs, i can never get it to sound how i hear it in my mind when i write out the music.

hey i'm new to this site, and i just thought i'd comment...i write songs as well, and i've been reading the posts, i wholeheartedly agree with you, apologetixfan, that's how i work... my songs don't come out right if i try to force it, typically they just come, either when i'm singing spontaneously in my car or when i'm praying or whatnot, but god is the one who gives them to me and he is the one who makes them work... i have like 5 unfinished songs right now lol just cuz i haven't been given the rest yet, but i'll wait :) it works out best, plaus i love seeing where He takes it... and to the rest of you, i really like your stuff, i agree that music is about bringing people to god and that's what i hope mine will do, just touch people's lives and bring them closer to God...
