I live here in Tampa and went to WinterJam Friday nite. Second row center and my world was rocked. Have not one bad thing to say about any of the bands. Though Sanctus Real sang only three songs, their intent was about getting the message of Christ and His love out and not just self promotion. They rocked.
New comer Britt Nicole opened and really conected with the near capacity crowd. Got to feel great to be a new artist and to play in front of 10,000 people. Though I do not own any New Song discs, they were rather entertaining and really let it all hang out.
What can you say about Hawk Nelson? What a hoot. Broke a mike stand, got wild as only he can do. Awesome (short) set! Scared the tar out of a young girl he pulled on stage for the kazoo duet. Poor thing just blew into that thing and Hawk just had to wing it. I know he must have felt bad, but played it off well.
I do like Steven Curtis Chapman and his son's new band, The Followers, played for him. Man, those guys are talents. And the oldest in the band is 19. They will make a name for themselves, I guarantee it. SCC even let them do one of their originals and it rocked. His older son sand lead and has a great set of pipes. You should have seen his 15 yr. old on the skins. Beat them out. Very impressed.
Ended it all with Jeremy Camp. Never realized until the day of the show how many songs he has put out that I like. Guess I will be hitiing up the I-tunes store soon. He was great. Hated to see the night end, but had a blast!!
On a more solemn note, please say a prayer for my wife. She met me at the show because we were coming from different directions. Friends got together and call pulled to the show. Well, after the show she picked up our fan. A minute later she is getting T-boned by a dude who ran a red light. Totalled the van. She goes to the hospital in an ambulance. Thank the Lord there were no broken bones. From the looks of the van, that is a miracle. She is pretty dinged up though. But I know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to His purpose. My wife and i are that. So with that Romans verse in mind I leave you with a hearty ROCK ON!!!
