I recently downloaded audacity and I am trying to edit a song. When I recorded the song there is a delay and I cant get rid of this split second delay on the tracks. anyone have any ideas -

Like what? You mean a pause at the beginning before the song starts? You can use the "cut" tool to remove pauses. If that's not it, could you explain your problem differently. I'm not really sure what you're describing.
Or do you mean that you have two tracks that don't line up? Then you can use the cut tool on one track and line them up manually. -

Yeah, if your tracks aren't lining up either cut the beginning of the track that is behind (zoom in as far as you want to get better detail on the wavelength) or slide the track thats ahead.
When you're recording seperate tracks, it's a good idea to have a click-track running and start 1 or 2 measures into it. That gives you some space at the beginning. -
