I am new to this forum and would like to know your views on Dancing for the Lord. I am currently attending a Methodist Church which is by no means a traditional Methodist Church. We have a dance team (expressive praise and worship) named "Unshackeled" and we dance and sign as a part of every service. I was just wondering if anyone else here is involved in such a group and how others feel about the subject?
I personally favor any kind of worship to the Lord. I have seen many types of worship. For example, my church too, has a hip-hop team that worships the Lord through their dance. They are able to go and perform and show the love of Christ through their dance. God gives the gift of dance to some people, certainly not myself as I cannot dance at all (haha), but some He gives that gift to and I think that they should use their gifts to glorify God in any instance they can. I highly encourage any use of the gifts from God and if dance is it, then I say have at it =)
I think dancing for the Lord is not only right to do, it is also biblical. There are many places that speak of dancing. Mostly when talking of praise and joy. I say show the Lord your joy and praise for Him. Dance Dance Dance!!!!!
I raise my hands and move in church to praise the Lord in a way I guess a lot of us dance for the Lord . Only He is worthy of my praise and dance. In my opinion you are on the right path
I also would like to know what people think, I'm actually writing a paper on it for my ethics class. Tell me what you think about any kind of dancing and if you have any Biblical references that'd be helpful!!! Thanks!
Psalm 150 refers to dancing being used to praise God. Psalm 150:4 'praise him with the tambourine and dancing, praise him with the strings and flute,'. Psalm 149:3 'Let them praise His name with dancing and make music to Him with tambourine and harp'.
So dance! Praise Him with music and Dancing!
I think dance is great. Not only can we sign we dance at the same time to show our Gor just how much we love Him. Plus I'm sure if He was here he would teach us a few new moves He created cause He did create you me and the world.:D
In my church it is frowned upon if you dance in the church. However, I don't. At ciy we dance all the time for God! Infact they incourage it! I love to dance and I think it's an great way to prasie him!
dancing for the lord is really the best way to do it. it doesnt even matter how you dance as long as after you are done dancing you still love jesus. it says that in one of my new christian rap cd's :D. also it is a way to show your freedom in jesus. there are many great men in the old testament that said they danced while praising *EDIT* GOD *EDIT* thru the music that they were playings. i personnally dance at my house in my room for jesus alot that is in my personal worship altho i know that jesus looks down on me and smiles at me thru dancing when i do dance for him. and then a couple weeks ago at our youth group we had a disco night where we had a dance off just for fun and it was great lots of the youth really got into it and its just really something the teens these days love to do.
i edited it because i had jesus down first and jesus wasnt alive back in the new testament it was god they worshipped. :P
there was a song called Get All Excited, Go Tell Everybody That Jesus Saves, so if your on fire for God the Glory can't be hidden. Don't hide your candle stick, King David danced before the Lord!
I think it's alright. We all have the right to free expression, of course within reason. Our church has a dance group and they perform at different church events. It's great to see them expressing their love for God through dance.
i think dancing is a great ministry because not only is it a wonderful and creative way to praise God but also an effective way to attract other people join in praising Him. i myself am praying that we may be able to form a solid dance ministry at our church sometime soon. but no matter the style in which we bring glory to God, what's important is that we remember that it's God we are worshipping, and that we should put our whole heart and soul into it.
The only dancing my church does, is rock back and forth, and thats not even really dancing, but of course, the majority of my church is older ppl, so yea. but i go to Assembly of God church, and that might be y to.
