I think this song was recorded by either Joan Baez and/or Johnny Cash--but maybe neither. The grand refrain after each lyric set is "The Lord has set my soul (or spirit) free". I'd like to have the song title. Appreciate any help, Thanks

Aimee, How did you get that answer so quickly? Do you know of an especially good source? (I tried a few lyric sites before I reached out to the Forum.) However, I'm new using the internet much. It used to be we could use it at work, but lately they have cracked down & blocked some sites (like Amazom.com) HOW DARE THEY! ;) .

So, I bought my first computer (one month ago) that can handle the internet. I call it "TV Jr" because it seems waste a lot of time, particularly because I'm on a stupid learning curve.

Back to Cash. A fan, are you? Let alone alone his music for just now--I've read his two autobiographies. I'm currenting reading an "authorized" biography by a Steve Turner. Next, then, there's "The Man Comes Around--The Spiritual Journey of Johny Cash". By Johnny himself "The Man In In White"--
    fiction about Paul.
Also, I've a 16 CD set of Cash reading the entire New Testament--New King James Version.
    What a Voice.

I've addressed this note to you, but I think all might benefit--if they are interested in the subject(s).

As to his music--I 'll be brief just for now. "Four Strong Winds" in his most recent postamous (sp?) release simply centers and relaxes. Such an old, ill man at the time he recorded--takes my breath away a bit each time I listen.

Wow, I had a rough day at work today, so I guess that's why I've gone on so long--I'm normally taciturn.
I don't fully understand this Forum--[or this computer]--don't have the time. If all I've written is too off subject, please let me know.

    And Thanks Again, {And were'd you get that lyric?}

Most of the time i just do a quick google search. It's easiest just to put the lyrics someone has given with "lyrics" after in the search box and that usually comes up with answers. Sometimes it takes a bit of searching and changing words around but eventually it might come up with something :)

I'm not a huge fan. I've never really looked at any cds or taken a good hard look, but I know quite a few songs and quite a bit about his life. How were those autobiographies? If you thought they were good, i'd really like to read them.

He was lucky to live such a long life though. :) And to leave behind such a big legacy.

And i get off topic really easily :D i quite like when people do. It kind of shows that side to someone that you only see when they're really into something. So go ahead. Be "off subject" all you like.

Oh and the lyrics in my signature? are from the Relient K song Getting Into You

Sorrry, I'll reply more thoroughly soon--just short on time right now. The best Cash autobiography is the only one a person can get new--published in 1997 or thereabouts. It's very good, but, as with all of us, his memory was a little selectve. Not much really, just somewhat. A good corrective is the Steve Turner book. But the 1997 autobiography is very good. It reads well.

Thanks for the search advice. Regarding the lyrics in your signature--I could not access that, although I believe I have all the bells and whistles to do so. What must I do to get at it? Thanks again for for help and God bless.

    Best Regards,

    David

Oh okay. :) I'll see if i can get my hands on a copy, thanks.

Umm. I'm not sure. The only thing i'm really good at doing on the computer is finding the lyrics to songs haha. Anything else and it doesn't quite work out.

Regarding the tune in your signiature; I'll eventually figure it out. I wanted to leave tonight at least with this: I'm basically a jazz fan--my deceased Mother liked Cash--as I was growing up. Then I heard his cover of "Hurt"--one morning (on CBC) [Canadian]. And I wept--first thing in the morning--I cried. It's so good. Just one small song, but what an impact. You don't want to not have heard it, or relisten if you have--like in REALLY LISTEN now;) .

    Best Regards,

    David
