I'm actually posting for the first time... by creating a new thread. Is that particually kosher? Whatever lol. It doesn't matter.
To the point.
The main reason I got on this site it that I am really lacking on the Christian music scene. I used to like the stuff when I was young but now I'm a bit older and my tastes have changed and really, it's all become lame.
I desperately need some good bands recommended, without the usual Christian cheeze or anything. I've been recommended stuff before and just not liked it I'm into classic rock, jazz, anything with musicality, feel and smart/well written lyrics. Those qualities just don't seem to blend in Cristian music terribly often.
Other bands/artists I like: Pink Floyd, Gorillaz, Alanis Morissette, D.I.G., Pat Metheny, Keith Jarret, Pearl Jam, U2, Smashing Pumpkins, Radiohead.
You might get the message, I like a broad amount of stuff so this shouldn't be too hard.
Well, I would recommend some bands, but I've never heard of the bands ya is talkin' bout cuz I don't listen to secular music. So ya can go to this site and check the comparison chart to see what ya like. I hope ya can find what ya lookin' for. If not then I'll tell ya a few bands I like.
I am 48 and only been a christian for six years now, but I like all the bands you mentioned, let me suggest the CD that got me going. The band is Third Day and it's one of their first cds, I think it's called revolution and has a red cover. Let me check and get back to you. It really rocks, more so than their newer stuff.
OK I checked it is called Conspriracy No. 5. If your an old duff rocker like me you will like this cd.
ha, go check out ApologetiX. right now. go to their myspace and listen to 'Spread the Way'. it's their parody of Drift Away. think Weird Al meets Billy Graham. and way better. you can hear four of their songs from their new cd Wordplay (haha) on their myspace, www.myspace.com/ApologetiX
