Just give it a go. It may be a while before you write anything that you actually feel comfortable showing to anyone else. Sing all the time. Especially when nobody else is listening. I find that songs will come to me at random times, on the bus, just after I've gone to bed, as I'm walking down the road... As much as you can, write down anything you come up with straight away, before you have time to forget it.

That's great! I think the main thing is just to keep writing. I go through stages where I'll write a song most days, then won't write anything for a few months. I still haven't properly recorded anything. Someday I might.

Today i wrote a song whilst sitting in the bus on my way to uni. That seems to be the most common time for me at the moment. Ideal time? Probably when you're not thinking about too many things at once. I often used to write after I was in bed.

Hi Holy soldier. Good for you. Song writing is a gift not every body has. My personal experience is that I don't sit down to write a song. During everyday life I get an idea through things I see or hear. Even one word can give me an idea for a song. Keep a little notebook and pen handy. If you get an idea write it down immediately. Don't leave it until later as you will more than likely forget it and there is nothing more frustrating. Above all, pray as you write. He'll do the work for you!

I've also just begun to write christian songs! The way I do it is write down wahtever pops into my head whenever it pops into my head as often as I can and tehn later, if I can find all the things I've written down I try to bring them together and make songs of them. The thing I hat the most is when you have an idea in your head and you don't right it down fast enough and then bam - it's gone. I was laying down the other day for a nap and all of a sudden I started singing this song in my head that I know only could have been coming from God because in my head it sounded fantastic! And wouldn't ya know it, I fell asleep before I could write it down and - BAM - it was gone! Taught me to keep a pen and paper next to my bed as well as with me at all times!! lol
