Since Mid-March we've been keeping detailed records of every Artist, Album and Track view on our site. There's been a plan for all this data (approximately 600,000 unique records so far), and last night in the wee hours of the morning it was put into fruition.
On the Home Page you will see 4 charts: Top Artists, Top Albums, Top Tracks and Newest Additions.
The latter is pretty straightforward: the ten newest albums are listed.
The way the Top Charts work is simple: every night we run a script that runs through all of our statistical data and saves the 1000 most viewed for each category (Artist, Album and Track). Of these 1000, the top 10 are shown on the index.
Next to each Artist, Album or Track in the tables you will see a number on the right. This number indicates how much the item has moved in 24 hours. If the number is black, then the item hasn't moved. If it is red, it has moved down. Green, up.
You may also see "*NEW*" next to it. This means that the item is new to the Top 1000 in that category.
We hope you find this new feature useful, and if you have any questions or comments do not hesitate to contact us.
In addition to the Top Charts, we changed some visual elements on the site as well. Anyone browsing the website in a resolution of 1024x768 or lower may have noticed some weird behaviour. We believe we have ironed it all out, but if not please contact us.
