Violin - 10.5 years (9.5 years lessons)
Flute - 6 years (5 years lessons, stopped playing when I left home)
Cello - 2 years lessons (don't really play anymore)
Also a very small amount of piano
Violin is definitely my main instrument. I'm going to find a new teacher soon and take up lessons again.

Piano since college,
Guitar since age 12.
Human Instrument! Since age of 2. Best gift I have.
Played guitar last evening during praise team practice. I sing, so they were plenty surprised when I showed up with the "git-fiddle" :) One of the most fun practices I've ever had.
Praise be to Him!

I was just at a drum recital last night..it was truly amazing. one of my bosses got his masters in music and it was his grad show. it was so amazing...drums can be so sweet :D
I know a lot of drummers..I wish I could play the drums
But it's really cool, because my friend plays the drums and everyone sort of was like "well, she's a girl, surely she can't play like the boys" but she is reaaaallly good and it's a good confidence boost for her when she plays for the worship team.
One of the good things about learning multiple instruments is that often once you've learnt one, the next becomes easier to learn because you already have the theory and basic musicianship as a starting point. If I hadn't already played violin for years, I would have got nowhere on the 'cello.
For me music has always been around me. My mom has been playing the piano since she was quite young and it was almost natural for my brother and I to learn. My older sister was not interested in music or she is not gifted in that area. I like to try new things and I have tried some wind instruments as well. My asthma has restricted that to the recorder. I don't have the breath for much else. I would not mind getting another guitar and learning the chords or even get another ukele. You asked me how long did it take me to learn. I learned to play the piano from about the age of nine and it has taken me up to the last eight years where I can say that I am really comfortable playing in church. I play mostly by air though because I stopped going music lessons when I was in my teens. It took only a couple of lessons for me to catch on to the recorder. That I learned in grade school. My daughter learned how to play it at the age of four. The ukele my children and I learned in Campmeeting (1987?). It was fun to learn and easy too. I guess that I have a gift in learning music although there are many in my family and church who are better muscians than I am. But as long as the Lord will use me I will continue to use my talent.
I played the piano / keyboards 24 years guitar 15 years drums 10 years bass 6 years
I just love playing music and giving glory to God. I like to use music as one part of leading worship / prayer & praise. I was once told that when you sing, you pray twice! God bless
I have played piano for 20 years (since I was 6 years old) and Bass guitar for 14 years (since I was 12)... however, piano (and singing) is my first love!!!
I've played the guitar for about 15 years, but I'm only now getting to the heart of the instrument, (wish I could have learned properly right from the start!)
I've played the Plucked Psaltery for 2 years. I'm not very good at it (LOL), but you try finding a teacher for them these days. I do have a couple of people requesting that I teach them...
i would to. but i think it is hard to learn how to play it, and it would cost a lot of money, cause u would have to buy the guitar, and pay for lessons, and all that stuff
