I play soprano recorder, tin whistle, oboe, alto recorder, and guitar. I picked them up in that order. Tin whistle and guitar are self taught. I've been playing my soprano for..oh wow...*counts on fingers*..9 years. Tin whistle for maybe 7, but I don 'tplay it much. Oboe for 4. Alto recorder for 3 or 4. and guitar for 7-8 months or so.
more power to you! i can't sing... i mean people have told me I can sing... but i don't really believe them. last night i was going through a song with my friend (her singing lead with me on my acoustic and harmonizing) and despite how much i sang the harmony by myself, i could NOT sing it with her part. which is really sad because the harmonizing tha ti came up with for her song is really simple. so you go girl! :P
I play the flute. I just started in september, 2006. It's starting to get really complicated. I also played the recoreder in elementary school, but can't everybody? the flute takes so much more air!
*cough* no. everyone plays a crummy plastic 50 cent soprano in fourth grade, but have you ever played on a $1,200 soprano? (my teacher has one. i just about died when he let me try it. and his renessaince (sp?) soprano, THAT is a cool instrument) or seen an original great bass? they look like a basoon. it takes work and a decent recorder to get a good sound. trust me, as i said i've been playing mine for 9 years. so anyone can 'play' a recorder, but it takes work to get good tone and to develop good skills at sight reading/improv/tone on the higher notes/etc. i agree, the flute takes a lot more air, but that doesn't make it more difficult.
I learnt to play the flute 6 years ago, had lessons for 2 years.. and now just fiddle around with it occasionally. I have an electric guitar also that i fiddle with here and there, never had any lessons... it's just a hobby, i'm not very good. But it's fun and that's what counts for me.
I'd love to learn drums.. but i am soo uncoordinated! I remember music teachers in school trying to getus all to coordinate 2 hands and a foot.... i couldn't even do the basic rock beat! So i just enjoy listening/watching others instead. :)
ive been learning how to play the drums. Its pretty hard but i think im starting to get the hang of it. Ive been playing for like 3 months.. im on the worship team at my church and so far im doing ok, havnt played for them actually yet.
Im neve really on this site anymore.. i love all you people but i want to be out in the world living for Christ, not just sitting on my computer talking to people who are already saved.. I want to help them be saved too
