Just signed up and finding the site to be a big help. I do alot of sign interpretations for our churchs youth group which requires me having the exact lyrics to the songs.

Thanks to whoever set this up!

~waving...~ Hi, I'm new. Great site!

I was surfing for information on lyrics, and 'caught the wave' here...been known to use lyrics for studies, and am currently prepping for a longish weekend retreat in October. May I have permission to mention this site during a Bible Study? I'm supposed to be the 'official' spiritual cheerleader, and am currently gathering information for ideas to kick-start Christians into thinking outside of the traditional venues of supplimentary books, instead to consider themes such as music lyrics leading back into the Bible.

I'm a fan of Appologetix, and thought Little Red Bible Book would be a good starting point for conversations. The music is light, and since the age group I'll be working with is traditionally b'tween 20-65, most would be familiar, and easily identify the tune.

Demographics of the group: about 220 men/women, all Christians (leaders in training); some Pastors.

My study portion will be one of 15 classes over a 4 day period. This class will be the first on Saturday morning, so the livelier the better in descriptives and interaction. Can't depend on coffee to do what God can accomplish, and yeah, I DO believe in miracles!

Any suggestions and/or recomendations will be appreciated.

    Thank you for this site!

    that sounds great ibnfound! :)

I think your idea of challenging them to think outside of tradition is great. So often people get caught up (and stuck in) what they know, and don't want to see anything else.

I believe music & other 'creative' expressions are great forms to teach from, or to evangelise with.
In terms of lyrics, Disciple have some great, bible-based lyrics. Some blunter than others. :) Especially their albums By God and This Might Sting A Little.
Another band, Tourniquet, are also very bible-based.
(they are both hard rock bands).

Is there a specific application for thinking outside traditional 'venues' that you want to teach on?
    (e.g. evangelism, youth pastoring, etc..)
