Hello, everyone. I'm new here simply because I am looking for the name of a song and can't figure it out myself.

Back in the mid to late 80's, I believe, I heard a song sung by a male voice and the gist of the song was a "shadow of a cross" that was seen on Jesus during stages of his life. If I remember correctly, the song begins with Mary laying Jesus down in a cradle or manger and the singer could see the shadow of a cross laying across the baby (he sang the song as if he was an observer), maybe even more specifically across his face. Then I believe the next verses talk about his carpentry days (but I'm not sure) and the shadow of the cross is seen across him again. And the final stanzas are about him being on the cross, and of course the shadow of the cross lays across the land.

It seems this song had been played around Christmas, but I can't be positive. It's been so long since I heard it and even then I heard it so infrequently. But it haunts me. The song "Mary, Did You Know?" reminds me very much of the song in the sense that both songs talk of the future of her baby son, Jesus. I really loved the song and would love to find it again and to know who sings it.

I hope someone remembers this song, too.

    Thank you so much!
