praypraypraypraypraypraypraypraypray and never stop for VA Tech!!!!!! 33 young lives just snuffed out, just like that, dont' EVER let something like this roll off your back!! VA Tech needs all the prayer they can get. Please pray for them. pray for... -comfort for the families and friends of the victimes -wisdom for the powers that be on how to improve security -wisdom for the counseling department at VA Tech -God to use this to glorify Him, somehow -for things like this to be prevented as much as possible in the future
yeah....it does suck and I do pray for them but I get a lot of crap from teachers and principals at my school becuase I was invilved in something like that..How am I supposed to handle it? All it does is just piss me off and I dont want to do something stupid
richie, baby, just dont worry bout it, cause by wat u told me, it wasnt ur fault. just let it go. that was 2 years ago, and IT WASNT UR FAULT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! just take it as it comes, and dont worry bout it. i am here for u, if u need to tlk to someone.
Its a little hard not to worry about it when i walk down halls and hear remarks from teahcers. And yes..part of it was my fault..i was the oldest one there, i could have stopped it but I didnt..And because of that people could have been shot..
DONT LISTEN TO THEM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! omg, UR BLAMING IT ON URSELF CAUSE U WERE THE OLDEST ONE THERE??????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????? It happened 2 years ago, it wasnt ur fault, so just let it go
richie, it's okay. people make mistakes, and we learn from them. it's gotta be hard to hear teachers (of all people!) commenting like that, and it can't be easy to move on. i don't know exactly what you did, but God'll forgive you NO MATTER WHAT. then you don't have to care what people say. doesn't mean it'll be easy, but once you graduate high school you don't have to listen to it any more. you have that to look forward too :)
There is therefore now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus(Romans 8vs1). Richie, Jesus took all the blame for you when He died on the cross that day. You are not condemned anymore so you should not condemn yourself. Others might do it but that is because they do not have understanding. Do not let the devil make you feel guilty for something that you have already asked forgiveness for and which you know that God has forgiven you. I hope you do know that God has forgiven you. Believe it coz it's true. You are a new creation in Jesus and the old has gone and the new has come (2Corinthians 5vs 17). It doesn't matter what everyone else believes, what matters is what you know and what you believe. You should know that you are forgiven and you should believe it. You should also know that you are a new person in Jesus, no longer the old one who did all those things (that's why we call it being born again). Just like Paul; He hated Christians and did all sorts of terrible things to them, but when Christ came into his life he was made new and He totaly changed. Read about Him and see what God did. That is the work He is doing in you also. So don't be shaken or hurt or alarmed when the devil tries to bring you back to the places where you failed, he hates you and he will do whatever he can to bring you down. You should hold on to the truth coz the truth shall make you free (John 8 vs 32), put on the full amour of Christ (Ephesians 6vs10-17) coz this is a war, and stand firm in your faith (Ephesians 6vs13). Understand that your teachers say what they say becoz they do not understand what God has done and is doing in you (Luke 23 vs 34).Remember that we war not against flesh and blood (Ephesians 6 vs 12) but the battle has already been won and we can fight back not physically, but in the spirit through prayer (2Corinthians 10 vs3-5). Your teachers will change as you pray. Please read the verses I gave you, they are really powerful!
I'm sorry to hear about what happened in your country. It's a really sad thing but my encouragement is that you would seek God even more in this time than ever. God is our comforter (Isiah 66vs13) and He will comfort those who run to Him (Jeremiah 29 vs 12). I pray the peace of God rests over your nation (Isiah 60 vs 17).
Thanks Tammy1, but it is still hard to get over it..Noone will let me move on...I know I am reborn and I have moved on..but it is hard to listen to teachers that liked me say those things just because more shootings have happened. And as far as forgeting it awayla..i wont i sppreciate what ur saying but what happened is a part of who i am..I understand what ur saying... "The past can bless us with good memories and with lessons that will help us with obstacles to come, But to dwell in the past is to embrace death..Only through embracing the future can we embrace life" I understand but I dont want to let go a pice of me.
in between shootings teh gunman mailed a package to a news company. it was videos of him talking about why he was going to do this, an dpictures. freaky pictures. pictures of him pointing the gun straight at the camera. pictures of him with a hammer, as if he were going to pound the camera to death. freaky.
in regard to richie's post...
of course you'll never forget!!! i came close to suicide once, and as much as i'd like to forget that part of my life it's not like i'm going to because, as you said, it's a part of me, and has made me who i am. you don't have to forget, and i'm thankful you are born again, because you have God on your side now, and you can do anything with his help. just remember, God certainly isn't talking behind your back like those teachers are, He's forgiven you. and He's the only one that matters. ;)
My church had a nice big prayer time for them yesterday (Our sunday). But it was good, because instead of just focusing on the families and stuff, we also focused on all the non-christians who would maybe decide to go to church today (sunday there lol) because of it.
that's really cool!! our church didn't do anything like that, but i've been praying for them every night when i do my devotions, and whenever it comes to mind during the day.
I know it makes it difficult to go to school without being afraid that someone's going to take out a gun but just trust in the Lord. He will keep you guys safe where ever you go!
Well..that and a lot of things make it difficult to go to school.... But just because they happen at a lot of schools doesnt mean that they will always happen....God has a master plan...If it is bad..than it is not the end..the end is good.
That's a good attitude to have. We should always realise that there is a bigger picture. What we go through is only part of it but there's more that we don't see. My pastor always says that if God was to show us everything He has in store for our lives we would be scared but He shows us glimpses so that we can take one step at a time. The devil will ofcourse try to stop us but if God be for us then who can be against us? So we don't even acknowledge the enemy coz he's defeated.
speaking of pastors sermons, our pastor told a great story during his sermon on praising God yesterday. Here's how it went in a nutshell, true story!
"There was a man. His wife was terminally sick, money wasn't coming in, and work was bad. He prayed and prayed and prayed, but nothing happened. His wife stayed sick, money didn't come in, and the work stayed bad. He never stopped praying. All the time just prayed and prayed for help, but nothing happened. He was so immersed in his grief that he was walking up the street, and realized it was raining. Not really caring, he kept walking, when he realized a white paper floating down the side of the road. Naturally, he picked it up. It turned out to be one of the tracts that he gave his students to hand out a month or so ago. (And it said this in Hebrew, but I don't remember what it was). It said, 'Try Praising'. And right there, in the middle of the sidewalk, he lifted up his hands and praised God, and somehow, he felt peace. His wife didn't get better yet, money wasn't coming in yet, and work didn't get better yet, but he was peaceful."
Just a really touching story during this hard time.
We overcome through praising God. The devil has no problem with us cryin nor does he have a problem with complaining but he definitely has a problem with praising. The bible says in Revelation that they overcame by the Blood of the Lamb and the word of their testimonies (Revelations 12 vs 11). That is to stand and acknowledge God's works, to testify about His deeds ie to praise. That in itself is warfare; you'll be waging war and winning in the Spirit.
You know..off subject but..I think that there is a huge misperception on Christianity today... A lot of people think that being a christian is about just being a good person, no matter what u do...But its not about that, its about giving your life to Christ and living for him.
You are absolutely right! The bible does say that we should not only hear the word but we should do it also.(James 1vs22) and (Romans1vs13). Lets face it, at the end of the day what is being good? Isn't being good what God says it is. If God says this is what I call good then what I call good must not be good unless its in alignement with what God says is good. At the end of the day obedience is better coz it shows God that we love Him and that we live for him.(John 14 vs 23) Richie you are so right! I just wish everyone else would get that revelation.
There's also something called an American Christian. That means that someone says, 'I'm an American, so I'm a Christian'. Because we are a mostly 'Christian' country, people call themselves Christians without ever really making a commitment. The same thing goes on in places like Turkey. 'I am Turkish, so I am a Muslim'. However they probably don't bow to Allah 5 times a day, make a pilgrimage to Mecca, give alms, etc. It's pretty irritating if you ask me.
yeah it is..I hate it when people front..When they mean that they follow christ, its means a lot to me because I know just one more person that lives for christ..But when they say it just to fit in to a certain group or get a girl..or just to say it hurts because I know where they will end up if they dont actually live for christ.
ok. u know wat?? i follow christ and everything, but i dont understand it all. y did he die for my sins???? y did he go through that "torture" for me?? i dont deserve it. no one does
Because he loves you. He created you. If you were married and had a child, and that child ran off and did something terrible, like murdered someone or got his girlfriend pregnant, wouldn't you want to save him from everything? Wouldn't you love him sooo much? Because he would be your baby, a part of you, no matter how old he grew or what he did. That's the way God feels about us, except a gazillion times more. Jesus died for you because he knew that there was no other way for us to get to heaven and because he loves us more than ANYONE can imagine. God has so much love, it's overwhelming. I can prove it to you with one of my experiences...
I've been playing the recorder for 9 years, and because of that, not to be rude, but I'm not half bad. Now I always had this dream of someone walking up to me after one of the recitals and saying, 'I look forward to hearing you play every year'. And of course, since God knows our every thought, he knew that I was dreaming of this. Well about a year or so later, after a recital where I really screwed up, I was at the snack table. This man walked up to me and told me that exact thing. He said, 'I look forward to hearing you every year'. I didn't realize the significance of it until the drive home. I was dumbfounded that God would fulfill that prideful ambition of mine. And He did it because He loves me. He loves you too. That's why he went throught that 'torture' for you.
Other than that, I can explain to you WHY he had to die. You knwo how in the Old Testament, to make a long story short, when the Israelites sinned, they had to sacrifice a lamb or goat or dove etc. They needed something else's 'clean' blood to atone for their uncleanliness, otherwise they would have to atone with their own when they died, meaning going to hell. Jesus never sinned, so he was 'clean'. So when God threw all our sins on Him while he was on the cross, and he died, he atoned for all of our sins with his own 'clean' blood and went to hell for us. But! He fought Satan and, of course, won because He is God. He overcame sin, and atoned for our sins. And he did it because He loves us. I can't say that enough.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! send me a pm telling me wat u want me to give u for ur birthday.
