I learning to play the piano, I know how to play the sax, but it's been a while and I do write gospel songs - Can't wait to everyone start posting!!! ;)
i play piano. i've been playing for 5 and a half years. i don't play any wind instruments or anything, but i also play guitar. i've written some songs too. i'd be willing to help you with any music theory that goes with piano.
i've been playing guitar for about three years. i started when we learned how to play guitar in music class in 6th grade. i was also in guitar club for all three years of middle school. however, since i've started high school this year, there are no guitar clubs. but i still play for youth group when i can go.(i haven't gone lately because of homework) other than that i only play whenever i sing for church every month or so. i'm one of the only people who does live music. in fact, i'm the only person who accompanies myself.
sorry i wasn't able to get back to you for awhile. i did try to post a link to chords to a song that's really fun to play for me, but it wouldn't let me post a link. i think if you click on my profile you can email me.(???) and if you do that and just remind me that your with this forum, i'll send you the link.
it doesn't matter, she already emailed her, and i emailed her the chords. but it was to the song, "For the Moments I feel Faint" by Relient K. that was the first song i ever played and sang to for church. that was about a year or two ago.
it's been going good. i'm going to play tonight with the worship team at my church's 30 Hour Famine. i'll be playing tonight, and tomorrow at different times throughout the day. but the other night when we had worship team practice, i felt like one of my strings were going to break. they're all really buzz happy right now. but i don't change the strings till one of them pops. and for some reason, i have a feeling that'll happen this weekend. oh, well, i'll make it.
Glad to hear you're playing. Yeah, just hold on to those strings...stuff like that happens and most of the time a crowd will just kind of laugh it off and let it pass. We had the 30 hour famine at my high school a couple years ago...and I think they're still doing it too. Speaking of famine..man I'm REALLY hungry right now...I missed lunch because I've been so busy today :/
well no strings broke last night. i just have today to get through. and i have less than 12 hours left. one time one of my strings did break in front of a lot of people, just this past september it was my pastor's last sunday, and i was playing a song on my guitar because i was the music for the offering. towards the end of my song i heard a pop sound, and there was sort of a break in my strumming. i've seen in concerts when that happens and they just throw the the string over their shoulder to keep it out of the way. i tried, but it was still partially connected. so after the service i took it off completely. i was really interesting because i wasn't worried about my string as i was sad about my pastor leaving. so in the second service, i explained to everyone before i started my song that it might sound different because of the missing string. everyone totally understood, but i found out that's a really important string in the song i was playing. but it turned out okay.
yeah, my mom took it to the place where we bought it a few days later to have it all restrung. well, they decided to restring it. but i had a pack of six strings, but i'd already used one on my old guitar before. so my mom just bought a new string and they restrung it.(my guitar has a life time warrenty, so you just have to by the strings and they'll do the rest.) i wasn't able to play it at youth group though, and one of the other kids at youth group was teasing me about only sing with our little worship team instead of playing. but i lasted through the weekend okay.
That's awesome about a lifetime warrenty, what kind of guitar is it? Glad you were able to get it all re-stringed properly. But don't mind the kids at youth group, when you get older, people laugh but that's because they're laughing with you. Kids laugh at you because they need something to laugh at. Stay strong, Christ is with you :)
my guitar is an Art & Lutherie.(it's made in Canada). it was cheap, well, as cheap as guitars go. but it's really good. it's also really loud which is good because it doesn't have a place to be plugged in.
Awesome. Yeah, I played piano when I was younger because I never had anyone to teach me the guitar...and now I just don't have time because I'm still busy with school and work. I'm actually a sound technician, so I run sound at my church on the weekends and I run it here at school 3 days a week. It keeps me busy, but I wish I still knew how to play the piano...I really miss it. I want to learn again one day...one day...just one day I'll learn, yeah, I really miss it. God has a plan though; and it's glorious :)
I never quite managed to learn piano. Too many notes at once! I think I'll stick to my Strings & wind for a while yet. I would like to learn piano someday.
